The Real Reason Wendy Williams Can't Stand Kim Kardashian
Talk show host Wendy Williams has risen to the title of "Queen of Celebrity Gossip" through her years on radio and TV. Along the way, she has collected her share of both fans and enemies, and one of the biggest feuds to unfold during her reign has been with the Kardashian-Jenners. Members of the reality family have been frequent guests on Williams' syndicated show and have been prime subjects on the show's Hot Topics segments. Williams' comments about the clan, particularly Kim Kardashian, have rippled through the airwaves — and not in a good way.
Williams has never been shy about sharing her opinion about the reality star. When the "Diva of Dish" suggested that Kardashian was faking her pregnancy with her second child, Saint, in June 2015, Kardashian went on a Twitter rant to respond to the rumor.
"Please! This is the type of stuff I will address. If I got a surrogate I would say I did! Thankfully I didn't have [to]," Kardashian wrote.

Wendy disapproves of Kim's Instagram pics
Wendy Williams rarely lets any of Kim Kardashian's moves go unnoticed. The controversial reality star is a regular subject on Williams' Hot Topics segment on her show. From Kardashian's pursuit of becoming a lawyer to her promise to dress less sexy in 2020, Williams has been critical of Kardashian.
But what seems to provoke Williams the most is Kardashian's Instagram feed. In January 2018, Williams criticized the revealing photos Kardashian shared with her millions of followers and accused her of "desperately trying to stay in the spotlight," according to Us Weekly. The photos in question showed Kardashian with blond braids sporting a G-string and a see-through top.
"Kanye makes money, Kim makes more, why are you still doing this? It's not even about the mother thing, forget the mother thing, because a lot of people will say, 'Oh, she's a mother.' It's about, she doesn't have to do that anymore," Williams said.
In January 2017, Williams was also critical of Kardashian's quick return to Instagram after two major traumatic events. First, Kardashian had been robbed at gunpoint in Paris in October 2016, and then her husband Kanye West was hospitalized for a psychiatric evaluation the next month. Kardashian posted a photo of her, West, and their children, along with a short video.
Thumbs down for Kim's business ventures
Kim Kardashian's Instagram is not the only target of Wendy Williams' ire. Williams has gone after the entrepreneur's products as well. On her talk show in November 2019, Williams didn't mince words when she talked about Kardashian's idea to include shapewear for men in her SKIMS line.
"But shapewear is for women," Williams argued. "I'm sorry, guys. Guys, can you let us have something for ourselves besides menopause and a period?"
Even when complimenting Kardashian, Williams stirs up trouble. During an April 2019 show, Williams buttered up Kardashian's dream of becoming a lawyer. The host said it was "a good thing" that Kardashian is going on this path but mentioned that she wouldn't hire the socialite to represent her.
"This is, I guess, she is setting up for the next phase of her career while she still does her selfies and dresses down to next to nothing," she said during her Hot Topics segment.
Williams also pointed out that Kardashian is not pursuing a law degree and asserted that the firm where she has an internship will be doing most of the work.
"At the law firm, I'll bet you there are 20 lawyers who legitimately went to law school, who probably graduated at the top of their class, who will be feeding Kim information," she said. "And I do think she will be able to get cases."
Is there a truce between Wendy and Kim?
Just as the beef between Wendy Williams and Kim Kardashian was heating up in early 2019, things took a cool turn.
In May 2019, Kardashian posted a complaint on Twitter about fast food restaurant Jack in the Box without going into detail. Per FOX News, Williams blasted the post on her show, saying "Because what this sounds like, Kim, is you're using your celebrity and your newfound business head for a lot of pomposity and bullying. Like, who are you?"
However, the following month while on break from the show, Williams was hanging out with Kardashian and momager Kris Jenner. According to BET, Williams posted two videos with Kardashian and Jenner on her Instagram, looking as though the talk show host had buried her feud with the family. When Williams returned to her show in July 2019, she shared a video of the Kardashian house and relayed her visit to her studio audience. She saved her kindest words for Jenner.
"Kris totally deserves every bit of success she has. That woman works hard. We have each other's numbers," she told her audience.
If that's a sign Williams is taking a softer view of Kardashian, expect to see less shade being thrown her way in the future.
