How Did Chantel Jeffries Become Famous?

You may know who Chantel Jeffries is and not even remember why. Since popping onto the celebrity scene in 2014, the model and DJ has done quite well for herself, securing 4.7 million followers on Instagram, a popular YouTube channel, and even a music career after signing with Universal Music Group label 10:22 pm. According to Daily Mail, label head Celine Joshua said, "From the moment I met Chantel, I knew she was a creative force with a unique ear for music."

As for her personal life, the social media star is currently dating Drew Taggart, of the Chainsmokers. The two have been spotted traveling the world together after they made it Instagram official in July 2020. Before Taggart, Jeffries apparently had a slew of other celebrity romances that have had her making headlines outside of DJ and modeling gigs. According to Distractify, she's been linked to Philadelphia Eagles' wide receiver DeSean Jackson, NBA star Kyrie Irving, rapper Machine Gun Kelly, and fellow DJ Diplo. Us Weekly also reports that at one point she was "definitely dating" The Weeknd.

But it was one rumored relationship in particular that some would say made Jeffries famous in the first place.

Chantel Jeffries was with Justin Bieber at this pivotal moment

Chantel Jeffries starting making headlines in 2014 after being spotted with music superstar Justin Bieber. The Purpose singer was in his bad boy phase at the time, and Jeffries happened to be his gal pal of the moment when he was arrested that January in Miami Beach.

According to the New York Daily News, Bieber was charged with driving under the influence, speeding, resisting arrest, and driving with an expired license after being caught drag racing. And it was Jeffries who was riding shotgun in his Lamborghini when it all went down. Before the arrest, TMZ even got photos of the two together partying at Miami's SET Nightclub.

After that, everyone wanted to know what mystery girl was dating Selena Gomez's ex. And of course, with fame comes scrutiny — and in Jeffries' case, several reports about her own past arrests. The model eventually told TMZ, "I have not been arrested five times as has been stated in the media, nor am I guilty of physically assaulting anyone."

Jeffries may have not even realized how that one night with Bieber would make her famous. She said after the arrest, "I am a full time student who had enjoyed a normal lifestyle, free from public scrutiny and criticism, until now." Of course, Jeffries must have liked something about the Hollywood lifestyle, because she continued to see Bieber on and off for several months. However, the "Yummy" singer never did make it official with Jeffries.

In the end, Bieber went on to marry Hailey Baldwin, while Jeffries continued to secure her place in the spotlight in her own right.
