90 Day Fiance: The Scary Reason Sumit Called Off His Wedding To Jenny

The season finale of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way on Nov. 29, 2020, showed which relationships could withstand anything and which romances were doomed. Spoiler alert: Sumit Singh and Jenny Slatten showed their devotion to each other by putting up a fight against Sumit's disapproving mom, Sahna, but in the end, it wasn't enough.

Sumit and Jenny first met over the internet in 2011 when she messaged who she thought was a male model. However, she quickly learned that Sumit catfished her, and he was actually a telemarketer 30 years younger than her. Despite this hiccup, they continued communicating with each other and fell in love. They appeared on Season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way when Jenny relocated to India to be with Sumit for the first time in person. Unfortunately, Jenny soon learned that Sumit was hiding their relationship from his strict parents, who had already arranged a wedding for him with another woman. The pair continued their forbidden love in Season 2 after Sumit promised to divorce his current wife to be with Jenny.

Sumit's parents have been very vocal about their disapproval of Sumit's romance. Despite this, Sumit explained to them that he needed to tie the knot with Jenny as soon as possible, as her visa would soon expire, and they wanted her to stay legally in India. However, after an intense argument, Sumit gave into his parents' wishes to not marry Jenny. Here is the scary reason Sumit called off his nuptials to Jenny.

Sumit 's mother gave him a serious ultimatum

Sumit Singh's mother, Sahna, had some choice words to say to Jenny during their argument about Sumit's future. As Sumit began translating for Jenny, his mother started yelling, "Shame!" according to TV Insider. In response, Jenny said, "There's no shame. He's not my son, he's your son." Sahna hit back with a telling sign that she has an issue with their age difference. "You should consider him a son," she countered.

As the confrontation intensified, Sahna finally put the conversation to rest and gave her son an ultimatum. "I'm going to commit suicide right now if you marry her," she threatened. Sumit argued that his mother's statement was quite serious, so he backed down, not wanting to be the reason for his mother's pain. Jenny was perplexed by the entire situation, telling TLC cameras, per Entertainment Tonight. "These people are losing their mind. This is not the damn end of the world. Like, just let your son be happy. It's not the end of the world."

Despite the worrisome threat proposed by Sumit's mother, the pair decided that although they won't get the marriage they desire, they will stay together because their love can prevail. Sumit then planned a romantic date with Jenny and gave her a promise ring. "We are still fighting for it. And I hope we keep fighting for it," Summit confirmed to cameras.
