The Bachelorette: Tayshia Adams' New Ring Sparks Engagement Rumors
For many seasons, it's been a given that the Bachelor or Bachelorette gets engaged during the finale episode. However, recent seasons have strayed from that conventional format. Clare Crawley left mid-season following her engagement to Dale Moss. During Peter Weber's season, he proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss, then he dumped her on camera before pursuing Madison Prewett, who he split from days after the finale aired. Now, Peter is dating Kelley Flanagan, another contestant from his season. During Hannah Brown's season, Jed Wyatt proposed, but she dumped him weeks later (on camera) after finding out he had another girlfriend. Prior to that, Colton Underwood basically stopped his season by dumping Tayshia Adams and Hannah Godwin to chase after Cassie Randolph, who previously walked away from their relationship (via USA Today).
At this point, it would actually be more surprising to see a "traditional" ending with a Neil Lane ring proposal than for something shocking to happen. And that's why some fans are flipping out and investigating Tayshia's romantic status after she shared video footage of herself rocking a ring on that finger in an Instagram Story, which was captured in a screenshot by Entertainment Tonight. Did Tayshia Adams spoil her own season?
Tayshia Adams is 'possibly' engaged
Entertainment Tonight reported that The Bachelorette lead Tayshia Adams was wearing a ring on her left hand in two Instagram stories that she shared in December 2020, which could mean that she's engaged and she forgot to take her ring off. After all, in November 2020, Tayshia teased that she's "possibly" engaged during a different interview with ET.
However, it's very unlikely that Tayshia would have a ring with her at this point even if she is engaged. The cast members don't actually get to take the ring home right after the proposal. Instead, they give the ring back to production soon after, to prevent spoilers. Bachelor expert Steve Carbone, better known as Reality Steve, explained this when Madison Prewett was spotted wearing a ring in February 2020, while Peter Weber's season was still airing. He remarked, "Even IF Madison is the final one, that final person does not get to keep/wear their ring while the show is airing. Wouldn't that kinda be a giveaway of how the season ends if one of the leads women is walking around with an engagement ring on while the show is still airing?" It would be a major spoiler.
So, yes, Tayshia did seemingly have some jewelry on that finger, but it is very unlikely that it's actually an engagement ring. As for whether or not she's engaged, fans will have to wait and see.
