What Jennifer Hudson Thinks About Returning To Sex And The City

Samantha Jones might not be returning for the Sex and the City reboot, but Louise from St. Louis might be! The lovable assistant to Carrie Bradshaw, played by Jennifer Hudson in the 2008 film, is hard for SATC fans to forget, especially after Sarah Jessica Parker's character gifted Louise her very own "Louise Vuitton." Following the news of the 10-episode HBO Max rival series, And Just Like That, the songstress teased the idea of reprising her role, unlike Kim Cattrall, who has been notably silent after SJP shared the development on Instagram. Although Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon will be back to their iconic roles as Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbs, Cattrall won't be back in her former role as the sexy publicist.

Rumors had always circulated about tension between the actresses, but it came to a head in 2018 when Parker publicly sent Cattrall her condolences via Instagram following the death of her brother. In response, Cattrall replied, "Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now," adding, "Stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."

Months later, Parker told Vulture, "there is no catfight" between the two. In 2019, Cattrall told the Daily Mail she would "never" return to the series as she is choosing to "do work with good people." In light of Cattrall's decision to leave the franchise, it seems like Hudson would be all too happy to return. Keep scrolling to see what she said.

Jennifer Hudson is "down" to bring back Louise from St. Louis

A trip down memory lane sounded alright to Jennifer Hudson, although she's been busy promoting her animated short film Baba Yaga. When asked at a press junket for the flick if she would return as Louise in the Sex and the City revival, she said, "I hope so, that would be cool. I am down, I am down!" according to Entertainment Tonight. However, the Dream Girls actress said she had "not yet" heard from Sarah Jessica Parker or others associated with the project. "But I am interested," she insisted to reporters.

Sex and the City super fans will remember Louise found her L-O-V-E, prompting her return to St. Louis. But since just about everything is remote in 2021, Louise could be working on CarrieBradshaw.com all the way from the Midwest. Carrie did say "Saint Louise" brought her "back to life," and Louise is forever indebted to the writer thanks to her Louis Vuitton, so you never know!
