It looks like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might have stepped on some royal toes following the announcement of baby No. 2. While the California residents were thrilled to be giving son Archie a sibling, the reveal of their exciting news on Feb. 14, 2021, came just five days after Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed their first child together, per Daily Mail.
The princess — whose father is Prince Andrew, brother to Prince Charles, making her first cousins with Prince Harry — took her newborn son home from the hospital just two days prior to the couple's announcement. Although Eugenie has yet to share her son's name or first photos, some have accused Meghan and Harry of stealing her thunder.
However, this wouldn't be the first time the pair has stepped in the princess's spotlight. In fact, they announced their first pregnancy at her wedding in 2018. "It did not go down particularly well with Eugenie, who, a source said, told friends she felt the couple should have waited to share the news," authors of Meghan and Harry biography Finding Freedom, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, wrote. "This was a huge social gaffe, even if you were not a royal – stealing the limelight from Eugenie, who was furious, as was her mother, Sarah."

Fans think Meghan and Harry should have let Eugenie have her moment
It's hard to deny the coincidence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's poorly timed pregnancy announcements that seem to coincide with Princess Eugenie's major milestones. Although the timing of baby No. 2's reveal is most likely a nod to the late Princess Diana, who announced her pregnancy with Prince Harry on Feb. 13, 1984, as a Valentine's Day treat, per Daily Mail, their decision to do the same seemed to have accidentally upstaged their cousin.
Of course, Twitter was quick to notice Meghan and Harry's disregard for the princess's special step in her life. "What's with #HarryandMeghan making big announcements right after #PrincessEugenie's big events. Eugenie gets married, Harry and Meghan announce they're pregnant. Eugenie has a baby, Harry and Meghan announce they're pregnant again...," one person tweeted.
"Genuinely no hate and full congratulations to them, but i find it so funny that harry and meghan overshadowed princess eugenie's wedding with their first pregnancy and now her birth announcement with their second. 😅 poor girl, just let her have her moment," someone else wrote. It looks like Princess Eugenie might have a bone to pick with her cousin.
