Dionne Warwick Thinks Harry And Meghan's Oprah Interview Went Too Far

While many viewers expressed their support for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, there were others who felt the couple should have never spoken out against the royal family in such a public manner. Fans were surprised by the revelations made in the couple's first sit-down interview since announcing their exit from the royal family, via NBC News. In addition to revealing the suicidal thoughts she had while working as a royal, Meghan also shared claims that Harry's family expressed concern over how dark-skinned baby Archie would be.

#AbolishTheMonarchy became a trending topic on Twitter, and prominent figures like Serena Williams, Bernice King, and Beyoncé took to social media to rally behind Meghan, via ET. "Meghan Markle, my selfless friend, lives her life – and leads by example – with empathy and compassion. She teaches me every day what is means to be truly noble. Her words illustrate the pain and cruelty she's experienced," Williams said in a lengthy statement on Instagram.

Many others in the global Black community proudly backed Meghan, via The Denver Post — but there was one iconic hitmaker who felt like the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's tell-all was too "invasive."

Dionne Warwick wishes the royal family drama was handled differently

Grammy Hall of Famer Dionne Warwick didn't shy away from expressing her disappointment with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey. "I, personally, felt that it was a little invasive and I think it could've been handled in another fashion," the "Walk On By" singer told Page Six. "This was a choice that Harry and Meghan made, and if they felt that it was okay to probe as deeply as Oprah did, then who am I to make any comment on it at all?" But she spoke highly of Winfrey's interviewing skills. "Oprah was doing what she does best," she added.

Warwick wasn't the only one who spoke out against the interview. Piers Morgan opted to quit Good Morning Britain after getting into a debate over his criticism of the Duchess of Sussex, via CNN. The Real Housewives of New York alum Bethenny Frankel faced backlash after publicly criticizing Meghan on social media, via Independent. And Meghan's former Suits co-star Wendell Pierce also cleared up his remarks after he was called out for saying how "insignificant" the interview was amid the COVID-19 pandemic, via The Grio
