Who Is Sam Asghari's Ex, Mayra Veronica?
During her heartbreaking testimony in June, Britney Spears revealed that she "want[s] to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told right now in the conservatorship, I'm not able to get married or have a baby," according to a transcript detailed by NPR. Of course, Spears was referring to her relationship with her longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari, who has been there for her throughout her restrictive conservatorship.
Spears began dating Asghari soon after they met while filming her music video for "Slumber Party" in October 2016, per Us Weekly. Before it was determined that the singer's father Jamie would be suspended from the conservatorship, Asghari proposed to the pop star, much to the surprise of his ex-girlfriend, Mayra Veronica, and just about everyone else.
Before Veronica spoke to TMZ about her reaction to her ex's engagement, her name hadn't really come up before — even though she's been a fixture in the celebrity world for well over a decade. That has prompted a lot of people to ask: just who is Mayra Veronica and what does she do? For starters, she has a lot in common with Spears.

Mayra Veronica is a model, a singer, and someone who takes her work with the United Service Organizations so seriously that she was even invited to ring the NASDAQ closing bell in honor of her work with them back in 2008. In fact, the Cuban-born pin-up model has done eight tours with the USO, which is something that she is very proud of. "I'm able to do the kind of modeling that I was doing or have the freedom that I had to wear a bikini on a cover of a magazine because these men are out there fighting for our freedom to do pretty much whatever we want with our lives. I went ahead with the USO because they represent freedom," she told Cosmopolitan back in 2014.
Veronica is also super proud of her music, which includes dance hits like "Freak Like Me," which includes auto-tuned verses that sound like they were inspired by Britney Spears herself. She grew up in a musical household, as her father fronted of a rock band, she told Muscle and Fitness. And while Veronica hasn't had the kind of worldwide success that Spears has had throughout her career, she still has a strong fan base in the Spanish-speaking market, with over 350,000 followers on Instagram.
And while not much is known about Veronica's relationship with Sam Asghari, she certainly did have a lot to say about his engagement to Spears.

When Mayra Veronica told TMZ that her ex-boyfriend Sam Asghari "hit the jackpot" with Britney Spears, she didn't mean that in a financial sense — and that's because she believes the "Oops I Did It Again" singer is just as lucky. "She hit the jackpot too, though. He's extremely supportive ... and after all the s*** she's been through, that's what she needs," the model told TMZ, adding, "I feel very happy for them." She also revealed that she had been in a "similar position" as Spears as her "publicist and management were extremely, extremely controlling," and she always had Asghari's support.
With that said, Veronica is clearly on Team Sam. She further complimented her personal trainer ex, telling TMZ that he was always a "really sweet guy" that was just as supportive towards her as he now is for Spears. "I think she's with the right guy. Hollywood, it's so hard to tell, but he's such a charming, sweet guy that I really hope so for her sake," Veronica added. "She's been through enough."
