The Untold Truth Of Lori Harvey

Lori Harvey is the woman everyone is talking about — and there are many reasons to be chatting about this star. As you may already know, Lori started her foray into the spotlight via her stepfather, TV personality Steve Harvey, who started dating her mom, Marjorie Harvey, in 1990. Though she stayed out of the spotlight for much of her younger career, Lori was often seen and discussed on Steve's eponymous talk show and has revealed that the "Family Feud" host really helped her to understand her career path. "I am fortunate to have learned what it takes to make it in the entertainment industry from my dad," she told Pretty Little Thing in 2018, also revealing that her love of fashion comes from her mom, Marjorie.

But don't think she was pushed into show business just because she comes from a famous family. "My parents did a good job of keeping us out of the spotlight and letting us have a normal childhood so we could be kids and not live life under a microscope. They let us decide if we wanted to be in the industry," she told Vogue in 2018.

But Lori chose that public life and went on to become one of the most sought-after influencers and models in the game, also hitting the headlines for her much-envied romance with Michael B. Jordan (plus their subsequent shocking split, of course). But there are still a few things even the most die-hard fans of Lori might not know.

Lori Harvey is a businesswoman

Lori Harvey is a super successful businesswoman and has fingers in a number of different pies, with one of her biggest forays into the business world being the creation of her skincare brand, SKN by LH. Harvey opened up to PopSugar in January 2022 about the venture, revealing one of the touching reasons she took the leap. "When the next generation is coming up and there's that little brown girl who wants to get into skin care or start her own company, she can see me and be like, 'I can do it, too,'" she revealed.

Harvey also grew up with sensitive skin and rosacea, which is why she brought her expertise to the market — but don't think she's been relying on other people's work to get her through. "Before I launched, my anxiety was through the roof. I questioned every little thing, like, 'Is my packaging OK? Should I have redone this, should I redo this? Is this the right time, should we push the launch date back?'" the hands-on entrepreneur revealed.

Though her skincare line has been successful, she's far from finished building her empire. "I definitely want to have my hand in everything at some point. I think Rihanna has done an amazing job and laid some really great groundwork. I love how she's kind of done everything and done it so, so well. I think I'll definitely dabble in different parts of the beauty industry and fashion industry," Harvey told Bustle.

She's a millionaire

So, we know Lori Harvey is a super successful businesswoman, but how much has all that hard work actually earned her? A whole lot. This star is taking care of business with a seriously impressive net worth of $1 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Much of that comes from her thriving career as a model, as she's signed to the prestigious modeling agency LA Models in the U.S. and Select Models in Europe.

She's worked with some huge brands too — including Burberry and Valentino — and made a big appearance at Paris Fashion Week in 2017 where she walked for Dolce & Gabbana, per W. Ooh la la! Not only that, but Harvey has made bank from big time collaborations, including creating her own collection with fashion brand Pretty Little Thing while serving as a brand ambassador for the fashion company.

As for how she spends all that cold hard cash? Harvey admitted to Pretty Little Thing in 2018, "I'm very adventurous, I love travelling and trying new things!" And travel she does. The star's social media is flooded with gorgeous travel pics, including this beautiful Instagram beach shot from The Bahamas and this envy-inducing collection of shots from a yacht trip in Miami. Jealous? Us?

Keeping up with the Harveys!

So we already know that Lori Harvey has a famous family after her stepdad, Steve Harvey, married her mom, Marjorie Harvey, but just how close is this clan? Well, it sounds like the group is more like the Kardashians than the Markles, as they're as close as can be despite being a blended family. "Blending our families together was an experience because we're all very big personalities or all very opinionated. So it was interesting, but it was good. It was fun," Lori told Bustle in June 2021 of how things really went down when Steve and Marjorie got together, adding, "And now we're all super tight, we're super close."

The star shared a similar sentiment with Pretty Little Thing in 2018, when she described herself as being "very family oriented" while revealing her friends are also like family to her. "I have a small circle of friends, that are basically like my family, that I love to spend most of my time with," she explained.

Steve has also shared some touching sentiments about his relationship with Lori, including gushing over her and her now former boyfriend, Michael B. Jordan. "I don't speak publicly about this type of stuff, but I'm happy for my daughter right now. I really am. It's the first time I've been happy for her [in a relationship]. And it's the first time she's been happy," he told People in September 2021. So sweet!

Lori Harvey has been engaged before

Though her most high-profile romance was with "Black Panther" actor Michael B. Jordan, that wasn't the first time Lori Harvey has dated someone famous. She was actually once engaged to former Manchester United soccer player Memphis Depay. He popped the question to Lori in 2017 and her dad, Steve Harvey, confirmed the news on Twitter, where he made it clear he was a fan of the Dutch athlete. He shared a snap of Depay down on one knee as Lori showed off the biggest smile, writing, "Marjorie and I are proud to announce the engagement of our youngest daughter Lori to Memphis Depay, this young man is a good one! Congrats!"

However, their relationship wasn't built to last. The now former couple went their separate ways in 2018 after she was spotted without her engagement ring and Bossip reported many fans had noticed they'd been absent from one another's social media accounts for a while.

Lori opened up about the broken engagement while speaking to Bustle in June 2021, saying, "I grew up a lot and I learned a lot from that relationship. And so, I think just as I've gotten older and developed as a woman, I've taken that knowledge with me: learning what I like, what I don't like, and just applying that to where I'm at now."

The entrepeneur's run-in with the law

Everyone has a past, but unfortunately, Lori Harvey's involves a run-in with the law. Back in October 2019, Harvey was arrested for allegedly trying to leave the scene of a car accident after she struck a parked car while driving around in Los Angeles, per People. Harvey's vehicle was reportedly left on its side and Harvey was found by police a short way away walking down the street away from the crash. Thankfully, though the incident was so serious that it knocked the star's car off its axis, nobody, including Harvey, was hurt.

The influencer was later charged with two misdemeanors and could potentially have faced two years in prison for the offense, according to People, who spoke to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office shortly after the accident. Thankfully for Harvey though, her sentencing didn't come with such harsh consequences.

In December 2020, TMZ reported that Harvey had accepted a plea deal of no contest to one of her misdemeanor charges, and had to serve out two years of probation as a result.

A celery juice junkie

It turns out that Lori Harvey is on quite the health kick and has a super healthy habit she does every single morning — drinking celery juice! She told The Strategist in October 2021 she'd been doing it for three years after being introduced to it by her trainer. "It's great for digestion and inflammation and is a good source of antioxidants. If you want a flat tummy, it's really good for that, too. It tastes like a very healthy green juice — not the best taste, but you get used to it after a while and the results are worth it," she said.

But that's not the only time Harvey has spoken candidly about how she stays in shape, and her admissions haven't been without controversy. In May 2022, Harvey opened up about losing 15 pounds, confirming on TikTok that, in addition to exercise, she ate 1,200 calories a day. That caused quite the divide on social media, where fans both praised and criticized her.

"[People] acting like Lori Harvey said starve yourself. Someone asked what she did, so she told em[.] Consult with your own personal trainer rather than writing think pieces on health habits you've never taken part in," one person wrote on Twitter. Another tweeted, "Lori Harvey may have just been saying what she did for her body, but it is still dangerous to promote that. 1200 calories is too low for an adult's bodies [sic] to perform its basic life sustaining functions."

She's a Pilates buff

Lori Harvey doesn't just rely on her diet to stay looking so gorgeous, so also spends a lot of time working out. In fact, she's a Pilates addict and swears by the exercise, gushing to The Cut in April 2022, "I feel like it's completely transformed my body and really leaned me out and gives me long lean muscles versus like when I would just go to the gym." But don't think she doesn't like to change things up slightly when it comes to her beloved workout method. "I love Pilates on the reformer, but I also like to incorporate Hot Pilates, which is really good to get a nice sweat. I love to sweat a lot in my workout because then I feel like I really did something," she explained.

Harvey also addressed her workouts in a May 2022 TikTok video, revealing she'd been doing Pilates for a while but had only gotten consistent with it around a year prior, which is when she really started reaping the benefits.

Clearly, the masses have noticed too! Plenty of social media users tweeted about an uptake in people trying out Pilates following Harvey's confession, with one tweeting, "The last couple of days I've been the only girl in the weights section, has Lori Harvey made everyone convert to Pilates" alongside a crying laughing emoji. Another wrote, "The Pilates industry needs to thank Lori Harvey cause all I see is Pilates this Pilates that now."

Lori Harvey's a social media queen

Lori Harvey is one savvy social media queen — and she has the stats to prove it. Harvey is hugely popular on social media, with a particularly impressive following on Instagram. In fact, as of June 2022, Harvey boasts a whopping 4.5 million followers on the photo and video sharing site (where Speak RJ estimates she gains upwards of 3,000 followers every day), plus another almost 150,000 on TikTok. Not bad at all!

But don't think this star is so obsessed with influencing us all across her social media accounts that she doesn't take some time out of her busy schedule to live her life without the cameras around. "I think social media is such a great tool and when used the right way it can be amazing, but there are also downsides to it. So I think it's important to be able to just unplug, take some time for you, breathe, and live in the real world," she told The Cut in April 2022.

Harvey noted that she actually takes weekly breaks from the virtual world and changes up her routine from all the screen time, sharing, "Usually a Sunday or when I have a chill day where I'm just unplugged and do nothing." A queen who practices self-care? We love to see it!

Her equestrian dreams

Okay, saddle up because this one might surprise you. While we know her best from social media, her business ventures or her modeling career, it turns out Lori Harvey originally had a different career path in mind. Harvey originally saw equestrian riding in her future and was so good she started competing when she was just 14 years old. "My love for the sport just took over. I'm in love with horses. That literally took up all of my time. I would be there from the time the barn opened until they closed," she told Bustle in June 2021, revealing her specialty was show jumping.

But all that sadly changed when the then-18-year-old injured her back. Thankfully, Harvey recovered well, but was told by medical professionals that if she ever fell again she could potentially end up paralyzed. She was willing to get back on the horse (pun intended), but her parents were adamant she was never going to compete again, despite Steve Harvey singing his stepdaughter's praises on "Steve" in 2014 after she won an equestrian competition. That meant she had to rethink her whole life direction, with the model explaining to Bustle, "[I focused on] just developing those passions and trying to just focus on that and focus on the positives."

This star also didn't let fear keep her out of the game entirely, as she told Vogue in 2018 that, although her professional dreams were over, she still rides casually when she can.

Future's Lori Harvey dig

Though we're sure she's more used to having romantic love songs played for her by Michael B. Jordan, Lori Harvey has actually been immortalized in music. Just, maybe not in the way she might have hoped. Harvey was dissed by her ex-boyfriend Future on his collab with 42 Dugg, in which he didn't exactly have the nicest things to say about her. On the track, Future raps (via Genius), "Tell Steve Harvey I don't want her. One thing I never seen was a b**** leave." Ouch.

That's not even all of it. Though that's the diss that ended up on the final edit of the song, there's another version out there that sees things getting a little nastier. In an unfiltered version that leaked online, Future raps (via Rap-Up), "Must've forgot to tell her daddy she begged me not to leave. Put baguettes on ya ankles damn near up to ya knees/She didn't have a choice, but to go f*** a lame after me."

Harvey was asked about the controversial lyrics by Bustle after staying silent about them on social media. "I try to just not let any type of negativity or rumors or anything like that make me stoop down to that level and go back and forth with it or whatever. Just maintain my position of I know who I am, I know what's going on," she explained. "I just try to stay up here and take the high road in every situation."

Lori Harvey's dating history

In addition to everything she has going for her (which is pretty much every single thing!) Lori Harvey also has a dating history that would make almost anyone envious. The star has hit the headlines a few times over the years for her dating life, as she's stepped out with some of the most eligible bachelors in the world. Of course, there's Michael B. Jordan — who was crowned People's Sexiest Man Alive in 2020, by the way! — who she went Instagram official with in January 2021, and then her romances with Future and Memphis Depay, but those weren't the first times her dating life has made the news. Prior to her enviable romance with the "Black Panther" star, Harvey was also linked to the likes of singer Trey Songz and even British race car driver Lewis Hamilton. No wonder Vice once described her as "the Queen of Dating!"

She's also been linked to another A-lister who may surprise some people, due to the large age difference between them: Diddy. E! News reported this one, claiming back in 2019 that they went their separate ways around three months after they got together after realizing they wanted different things. "He is not ready to be in a long-term committed relationship and is focusing on his kids right now," the insider claimed of their dalliance.

Just like her work resumé, this is one impressive list!
