Christina Aguilera Announces Las Vegas Residency
Pop star Christina Aguilera is Las Vegas bound!
During her Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the "Beautiful" singer officially announced that she is heading to Sin City for her first-ever residency called The Xperience, which will be held at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood.
"So, it's been in talks for a few years now. But now that I've got my feet wet, I'm going to do a residency in Vegas!" Aguilera told the titular host. According to Entertainment Tonight, the former Disney Channel star, who's mom to two children, 11-year-old son Max and 4-year-old daughter Summer, recently returned to the stage for the first time in 10 years with her 2018 Liberation Tour. As she went on to explain, the residency will mean "less full-on travel," which will be "a little bit easier with" her kiddos.
Aguilera added, "I still want to see my fans all over and in Europe and everything, but how much easier [will it be] for everyone to just come to one place, and fill the venue with fantasy and love and excitement."
According to Us Weekly, Aguilera is set to join the ranks of multiple other celebs who recently scored a Las Vegas residency of their own, including the likes of Lady Gaga, Cardi B, Drake, and Céline Dion. However, the Canadian songstress previously announced she will end her eight-year residency, Celine, at the end of June 2019. Meanwhile, Aguilera's alleged rival and fellow '90s pop star, Britney Spears, has put her upcoming residency, Britney: Domination, on hold until further notice. As Nicki Swift previously reported, the "...Baby One More Time" singer revealed earlier this month that she would be taking an indefinite hiatus to care for her father, Jamie Spears, as he recovers from a recent life-threatening illness.
For her part, Aguilera, 38, recently teased her upcoming gig on Instagram, writing to her 5.9 million followers, "Welcome to #TheXperience....a multisensory escape to a world of magic and total freedom."
The "Genie in a Bottle" hitmaker, who dropped her first single in six years, "Accelerate," last May, also stated in part to ET, "The Xperience is going to be my most ambitious show yet ... For years I have been collecting ideas and concepts that have yet to be implemented on my stages, and Las Vegas is the perfect opportunity for me to collectively showcase my artistry."
Tickets for The Xperience, which will kick off on on May 31 and run through October 2019, will go on sale via christinaaguilera.com for the general public at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2.
