The Truth About Kim Kardashian And Meek Mill's Relationship

On the night of July 21, 2020, Kanye West went on a Twitter rant, posting about a number of things, including his wife, Kim Kardashian; her mom, Kris Jenner; and more. The tweets, which have since been deleted, referenced a supposed meeting Kardashian had with rapper Meek Mill in 2018. West wrote in the tweets, per TMZ, "I been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Warldolf [sic] for 'prison reform.'" He added, "Meek is my man and was respectful ... That's my dog. Kim was out of line," seemingly implying that something untoward happened between the two.

The meeting in question took place in 2018 at the Inaugural Criminal Justice Reform Summit, a very public setting, according to another TMZ report. Sources told the outlet that Kardashian and Meek Mill were never alone one-on-one during the whole meeting; they were joined by philanthropist Clara Wu Tsai at Jean-Georges restaurant at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Los Angeles. A witness told TMZ that Kardashian left the hotel immediately after the meeting, and she was alone. Their sources also claimed that meeting is the only time Kardashian and Meek Mill have been in a room together — which means they've apparently never been alone as West seemed to claim.

Kim Kardashian hasn't addressed the accusation directly

On July 22, 2020, Meek Mill chimed in with his own side of the story. In response to Kanye West's claims that something went down between him and West's wife, Kim Kardashian, Meek Mill tweeted, "Sh*t is cappp cmon .....", which we're assuming means he's saying the claim is untrue. People has reached out to the rapper, but thus far, his tweet is his only response to West's accusation.

West hasn't said anything else about Meek Mill since that initial tweet, and Kardashian hasn't addressed it directly either. She did, however, share a long post on her Instagram Story on July 22, opening up about West's ongoing struggles with bipolar disorder. In the three-part story, Kardashian wrote, in part, per Vulture, "I've never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye's right to privacy when it comes to his health. But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health." She went on to ask for empathy and compassion toward West and their family while they get through what he's dealing with right now.

Meek Mill is passionate about prison reform, just like Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian and Meek Mill seemingly have no romantic history together. Kardashian met with the rapper in 2018 to discuss prison reform, a cause she's devoted her time and energy to in recent years. Meek Mill reportedly wanted to get involved for personal reasons, according to Life & Style. Meek Mill was sentenced to two to four years in prison in 2017 for violating probation in 2008 on drugs- and gun-related charges, but only served a few months. Charges were dropped and the rapper was given a new trial in 2019. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor firearms charge.

At the time, Meek Mill said in a statement, "Although I'm blessed to have the resources to fight this unjust situation, I understand that many people of color across the country don't have that luxury and I plan to use my platform to shine a light on those issues." Because of his own struggles with the justice system, he teamed up with Kardashian to discuss what they could potentially do to help.

Meek Mill told Access Online in 2019 that he applauds what Kardashian is doing. "I think she's doing a lot of good work. She's doing a lot of work, more than other people who have platforms who might even [have come] from that situation," he said. "So, big ups to her and big ups to everybody that's working for a better cause – not even just for reform."

Kanye West's claims sparked divorce rumors

In Kanye West's tweets referencing his wife Kim Kardashian and rapper Meek Mill, West claimed he's been trying to get a divorce since the incident in question happened, even though it was back in 2018 and nothing has come of it. Sources told Page Six that divorce isn't in the cards for this Hollywood couple. The source claimed, "Now is not the right time for divorce. They're smart enough to know it's not a good look. She'll put on a show of trying to support him, then a divorce can happen later."

Whether or not that's accurate remains to be said, though Kardashian did share her heartfelt Instagram Stories about West's struggles with mental health. This was after not just these accusatory tweets, but also West's presidential campaign speech in South Carolina on July 19, 2020, in which he discussed controversial topics related to his daughter North and Kardashian. He even referenced divorcing Kardashian in that speech as well, according to People, though for now she appears to be standing by him, despite any accusations he may be making.
