Halloween 2026 has come and gone, and we'll be the first to admit that a good number of the A-list knocked it out of the park. However, there are always a few whose 'fits fall short (and because of just how much effort others have put in, you bet we noticed).

We'll preface this by pointing out the stars who did go the extra mile in 2026. Just over a week before Halloween, Kim Kardashian dressed up as her very own daughter North West, earning a ton of approval from the web. "Being your kid for Halloween and everyone knowing you're dressed as your kid is the most underrated flex EVERRRRR!!" gushed one fan on Instagram. And then, there was the queen of Halloween herself, Heidi Klum, who decided to go as her own severed hand for her annual dress-up party. "I wanted something unexpected, a little weird, a little creepy, and unlike anything I'd ever done before ... and boy oh boy did Mike Marino [@]prorenfx and his entire team deliver," she wrote on Instagram.

Of course, not everyone who made an impact went the prosthetics route. In fact, Questlove earned a ton of chuckles for dressing as fraudster Daejon Labrayae Love in a San Francisco 49ers jersey and holding a football. The cherry on top was his Instagram post about it, which saw him say Labrayae was his cousin and that he would be taking donations for a bogus charity. "Ladies, please DM me for info on how to pay ... sorry, CONTRIBUTE to the cause," he quipped. "You had the chance to do the funniest thing ever and you did!!" one fan commented in response. Alas, not everyone was quite as imaginative as the aforementioned. Between long overdone costumes and those bordering on problematic, some stars landed on our worst-dressed list.

Dita von Teese went as ... Dita von Teese

Dita von Teese attended Christina Aguilera's Xtinaween party in 2026, and there's no question she looked incredible. However, she looked as though she was en route to a performance and didn't seem to break from her typical, stage-ready style.

Ironically, von Teese has said in the past that she doesn't like to go glam for Halloween, telling HuffPost back in 2010, "Every year for Halloween I dress up as a normal girl," citing jeans, a wig, and a spray tan as some of her costume pieces. Likewise, in 2013 she told Elle, "My goal is always to look like I'm the girl who didn't dress up for Halloween. I never get recognized." Well, clearly that changed in 2026.

Alix Earle's skeletal look was underwhelming

For a 2026 Halloween party, influencer Alix Earle seemingly dressed up as a sultry skeleton. Or so we think ... her comments section wasn't so sure, with one person asking, "But what are [you]?" She wore a black, low-cut minidress with a spiderweb-adorned sheer cape, black heels, bone-like jewelry, and spooky makeup. She looked stunning, but the whole thing felt very underwhelming for the circumstances. Sans the cape and face paint, this outfit is something Earle could wear out and about on a normal day. On Halloween, you can be anything, and Earle chose to be herself in a ho-hum costume.

Haley Kalil was Jessica Rabbit (sigh)

Haley Kalil looked stunning in her Jessica Rabbit getup, but we're a little exhausted of seeing the same character. Both Cardi B and Latto did it in 2024, and Heidi Klum did it back in 2015.

Granted, we will give Kalil props for acknowledging that in one of her Instagram posts, writing that her followers had specifically requested the look and that, "Since the queen of Halloween has already done the cartoon version, we decided to bring Jessica into the human world." Still, we've got to say we wish she'd worn one of the many other looks she tried in the lead-up to Halloween for the main event.

Carmen Electra couldn't decide if she wanted to be cute or creepy

At Christina Aguilara's 2026 Xtinaween celebration, Carmen Electra showed up looking like a bloody mess (literally). She wore a white, clown-inspired minidress with black pom-poms and matching white boots, all splattered with fake blood. Her makeup and the red balloon she carried seemed like an homage to Pennywise the Dancing Clown from Stephen King's "It." This costume couldn't decide if it wanted to be cute or creepy, and it came out looking like neither, but Electra gets points for creativity.

Kris Jenner didn't seem keen on dressing up this year

While Kris Jenner had enough spirit for the Halloween holiday to share a collection of throwbacks from over the years to Instagram, something tells us she wasn't keen on a full-on costume in 2026. Case in point: in a photo dump Khloé Kardashian shared, the KarJenner matriarch seemed to be in a black tracksuit which she topped off with a witch's hat ... which she then removed at some point during the festivities. Well, she had just been in Rome, so maybe she needed something more comfy and cozy to hang out with her grandkids.

Martha Stewart apologized for her costume

This one took most of us by surprise: for Halloween 2026, Martha Stewart posted a picture of herself in distressed clothing and with dirt on her face, holding up a sign saying "I am hungry help me!!" Of course, the optics were not great, and the internet wasted no time calling her out, particularly because of Stewart's own massive fortune.

Stewart has subsequently apologized and even told Page Six that the plan had been to draw attention to homelessness, and that she had, " ... spent a significant amount of time and effort supporting charities that combat this ongoing social epidemic." She also apologized via Instagram, acknowledging, "Wearing a costume like I did was insensitive and not funny. I am very sorry."

Many have said they still find Stewart's apology sketchy, and unfortunately for her, that means salacious rumors about her intentions are bound to do the rounds for some time to come. Still, it's pretty clear she's mortified by her actions.
