Larry King's Will Reveals Surprising News For His Estranged Wife

Beloved radio and talk show host Larry King died on Jan. 23, 2021. Prior to his death, the broadcast pioneer made it clear what he wanted done with his body after his death. Since the news broke, more information has come out about his death, including King's coronavirus diagnosis in late December 2020.

Needless to say, King's death has impacted his family, especially his children. That being said, King also had several marriages. In fact, according to People, he "was married eight times to seven different women," starting with marrying his high school sweetheart when they were both just 18. His last marriage was to Shawn King. They were married from 1997 until 2019, per the outlet, and together they had two children.

Their marriage was a rocky one. King filed for divorce in 2010 after news broke that Shawn had allegedly been having an affair. They reconciled, but King filed for divorce again on Aug. 20, 2019, per People, and one year later they were estranged while the divorce proceedings were moving forward. In light of those proceedings, the late CNN host's will revealed surprising news for his estranged wife.

Larry King kept estranged wife out of his will

In February 2021, a handwritten copy of Larry King's will was made public. The Blast shared a copy of King's will and he was very clear about who he wanted included and who he wanted out. Per the outlet, the handwritten note was filed by King two months after he filed for divorce from Shawn King, with the date on the document reading Oct. 17, 2019.

King wrote: "This is my Last Will & Testament. It should replace all previous writings In the event of my death, any day after the above date I want 100% of my funds to be divided equally among my children Andy, Chaia, [Larry] Jr, Chance & Cannon." So, it was very clear that King excluded Shawn from his will and estate, which is estimated to be worth $2 million, according to People. The outlet also notes that King's will was written before two of his children, Andy King and Chaia King, died in the summer of 2020.

Since King was involved in divorce proceedings at the time of his death, his son Larry Jr. requested to be "appointed administrator of the estate," according to People. Larry Jr.'s request, per The Blast, was specifically to prevent Shawn from trying to become administrator of King's estate.
