Why Corinne Olympios Never Stood A Chance On The Bachelor

When it comes to The Bachelor contestants, you either love them or hate them. The latter was the case with Corinne Olympios, who appeared on Season 21 of the ABC reality series in 2017. There's always that one girl or guy that causes a stir each season, and for The Bachelor's Nick Viall, his was Corinne, a then-24-year-old Miami business owner.

Throughout the years, diehard The Bachelor and The Bachelorette fans have met plenty of villains (via Insider). In JoJo Fletcher's season, there was Chad Johnson, as well as Krystal Nielsen during Arie Luyendyk's season, Olivia Caridi on Ben Higgins' season, and Jed Wyatt during Hannah Brown's time as The Bachelorette. Most recently, 'Queen' Victoria Larson grabbed the crown as Matt James' villain during Season 25.

Though Corinne was coined the biggest bad gal while vying for Nick's heart, the blonde bombshell insisted she wasn't necessarily as difficult to deal with as she appeared on the show. "I'm definitely not a terrible person," Corinne told Jimmy Fallon during an appearance on The Tonight Show in February 2017. "I think there's a lot that wasn't shown — a lot of conversations that Nick and I did have that were more emotional and intimate."

Still, Corinne couldn't shake the stereotype for being the villain on the show, and alas, she will go down in history as one of the most memorable contestants. Keep scrolling to find out why Corinne never stood a chance on the reality series.

Corinne Olympios caused drama during the first group date

After putting a sour taste in some of her fellow contestants' mouths during night one, Corinne Olympios caused an uproar during the first group date of the season. The date, which involved a wedding-inspired photoshoot where the girls dressed up like brides in white gowns, turned into a total spectacle when Corinne went topless. (Yes, you read that right.)

Corinne took off her top during the season's second episode when she started snapping photos in the pool with Nick. After telling him to "grab my boobs," Corinne proclaimed some of the most epic quotes in The Bachelor's history. "No one has ever held my boobs like that," she said (via The Hollywood Reporter). The ladies were obviously less-than-enthused when Corinne showed off her bodacious body, but The Bachelor frontman revealed the situation was not his "favorite moment" either. Nick opened up about the "really uncomfortable" circumstance during a chat with Entertainment Tonight in August 2020.

"I was literally 10 feet from the rest of the women, they were watching. And I also recognize that Corinne was taking a risk," he said. "Whether I agreed with it or not, I didn't want her to feel stupid or vulnerable or judged. So, you're really stuck between a rock and a hard place, so to speak." Even though Corinne's display turned heads for the wrong reasons, Nick couldn't help but fall for the Miami native. However, the women couldn't say the same.

Corinne Olympios' storyline included a messy feud with Taylor Nolan

In addition to the sexual advances that caused her fellow contestants to roll their eyes, Corinne Olympios stood out during her season thanks to her feud with Taylor Nolan. Their rivalry began when the two started interrupting each other for time with Nick during the season's premiere.

Perhaps their differing backgrounds were the root cause of their divide. Taylor is a proud Johns Hopkins University alum, who received her master of science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (via her website), while Corinne flaunted her princess-like life in Miami. Though she became infamous for taking naps, acting out, and causing a stir in the mansion, Corinne is a successful businesswoman — and she made sure Taylor knew that when her rival called her out for not understanding the meaning of "emotional intelligence."

After Taylor condemned Corinne multiple times for being "immature," the business owner clapped back. "Listen, I'm not an idiot, I run a multi-million dollar company," Corinne said during an episode of The Bachelor (via Insider). "So stop treating me like an idiot, Taylor."

Their feud eventually came to an end during a two-on-one date during Week 5 when Taylor was sent home. Years after they appeared on the show together, Corinne offered a glimpse inside their tumultuous relationship. "You either learn to love me or you just hate me, and she hated me. That's OK! I'm not everyone's cup of tea," Corinne said in September 2020 (via Bachelor Nation's YouTube channel).

Corinne Olympios stirred the pot when she visited Nick Viall's room

After weeks of heating up the drama with her former contestants, Corinne Olympios stirred up the most controversy when she took things into her own hands and attempted to seduce Nick Viall during Week 7 of The Bachelor. Corinne felt inclined to pay a visit to Nick's room after she didn't take home the group date rose that night.

"I'm a little worried I might be going home. I need a hometown date, and I'm going to make sure I get it so I need to sneak over and see him," she said during a confessional interview (via Bachelor Nation's YouTube channel). "I am not a runner-up, and if I am being outshined by other girls, I will never let that happen. So I'm gonna go see him and remind him of the spark that we have and turn my spark into a fire."

What played out between Corinne and Nick was nothing the blonde beauty was expecting. Corinne hoped to show Nick exactly why she calls her "you know what" her "platinum vaginé," but the season's frontman revealed the two didn't engage in sexual activities as it appeared on TV. "Like literally, nothing happened," Nick dished during a February 2017 appearance on the Channel 33 podcast. "Certainly, we kissed a little bit" (via Us Weekly). Despite the casual hangout, you can imagine this did not go over well with the others girls.

After claiming her status as Season 21's villain, Corinne Olympios' journey came to an end

Although Corinne Olympios thought the season would end with Nick Viall getting down on one knee, she received the surprise of her life when she was sent home following hometown dates during Week 8. Despite having a really great visit to Miami to meet her family, he ultimately had to choose between Corinne and his other ladies — Vanessa Grimaldi, Raven Gates, and Rachel Lindsay.

As they said goodbye, Corinne apologized to Nick for anything she said that ever made him "upset" (via Entertainment Tonight). "You have nothing to be sorry for. I'm going to miss the hell out of you. I have so much love for you," Nick replied as the teary-eyed Corinne wept in his arms. While viewers imagined Corinne's exit would be anything but peaceful, she shocked the audience when she offered an inspiring message about being "done trying to impress" in the limo ride on her way home.

"I just want to feel loved, the way it's supposed to be. The normal way," she heartbrokenly said. "I'm trying to say things that men think are appropriate, and you know what? I'm done trying to show my men how much I worship them and I love them and I support them. I need that."

With that, Corinne's journey on Nick's season ended. However, her mischievous — but also undeniably lovable — legacy will forever leave a mark on The Bachelor's history.
