What Was The Advice Keke Palmer Received From Ice Cube?

Receiving advice from elders is all a part of the growing pains that younger people have to experience. But imagine receiving advice from one of your favorite celebrities! And some child stars, like Millie Bobby Brown — who received some words of wisdom from her "Stranger Things" co-star Winona Ryder about awkward haircuts — do not have to imagine it. "Winona Ryder cut her hair when she was younger, so she always told me there's going to be a stage where it's going to have that really weird mid-length," Brown said on the SAG awards red carpet (via Entertainment Weekly). "So I definitely got told and that was a thing, by the way."

Similarly, Chloe Bailey (of Chloe x Halle) is only in her early 20s — but the guidance she received from her mentor Beyoncé is timeless. "She's given me a lot," Chloe said of Beyoncé on the "Spout" podcast (via Just Jared Jr.) " ... Something that she continues to remind me of is to trust my gut and my instinct and my voice. What I love is that she's always asking me, 'What do you want to do?'"

Words of wisdom from legendary singers and actors is undoubtedly cool, but how about receiving advice from a gangster rapper? Here's the helpful bit of information former N.W.A. member Ice Cube imparted on Keke Palmer when she was a kid.

Ice Cube gave Keke Palmer advice about men

On October 26, Keke Palmer dished on E! News' "Celebrity Game Face" that the first person to give her advice about boys was not her family or her church. In fact, it was none other than actor and rapper Ice Cube.

"When I was ... 12 years old, I did 'The Longshots' with Ice Cube. When I was on the set ... I was starting to get older at this point. I was starting to get together," Palmer recalled. "Ice Cube, he pulled me to the side. He was like, 'Keke, I know you're growing up, and I just want you to understand the way these men are seeing you isn't always how you see yourself.' And that was Ice Cube," she gushed. "Isn't he the best?"

That advice seems to be paying off, seeing as Palmer's love life has soared to new heights in 2021. On August 26, cinematographer Darius Jackson officially confirmed his relationship with Palmer on Instagram. And while the "Hustlers" actor occasionally shares sweet footage with her bae, don't expect a carousel of Instagram photos of this cute couple; Palmer likes to keep her love life under wraps. "I don't really do relationship stuff online, mainly because I don't know how I would do it without looking, like, cheesy or something, you know?" Palmer told Harper's BAZAAR in March 2020. "When it comes to romance, [posting about it] doesn't really come naturally to me, so I feel like, why force it?"
