Why Prince William Reportedly Supports The Decision To Name Camilla Queen Consort

Queen Elizabeth II made a somewhat surprising announcement as part of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations on February 5, sharing her desires for what will happen next as she celebrated a seriously impressive 70 years on the throne as she become the first monarch to reach the milestone.

Next in the line of succession is, of course, the Queen's son, Prince Charles, but the question of how his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, will be referred to and what her official title will be has long been questioned by royal watchers. But now we know exactly what will happen, if the queen gets her way when it comes to her daughter-in-law, that is.

In her Accession Day message shared via the royal's official website, the Queen opened up about Charles becoming king, writing, "I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service."

But what exactly do the other royals think about her decision (which comes with a pretty sweet gift for Camilla too, by the way)? Well, now we know what Prince William supposedly thinks about the whole thing, and it sounds like he's supporting his grandmother and stepmom after the pretty surprising move.

Prince William's thoughts on Camilla

One big happy family? It sounds like it! Prince William is reportedly "supportive" of the queen publicly stating her wish for Camilla Parker Bowles to become Queen Consort — despite a rocky past with his stepmom.

"There were huge family rows in the early stages of Charles and Camilla's marriage as everyone found their feet. William didn't have the best relationship with his father back then," a source claimed to Daily Mail in February. As for what changed? William reportedly sees Camilla's "made his father happy and it is something he has come to terms with," according to the source, who added "they get on perfectly well" now.

Another big reason why William has adjusted so well to the decision? His close relationship with his grandmother. "He also respects his grandmother and her judgment more than anything in the world. If it is right for her, then it will be right for him," the insider claimed.

Of course, it's no secret that Camilla brought some drama when she joined the royal family. It was widely speculated she and Charles may allegedly have had an affair while Charles was married to Princess Diana and Camilla to Andrew Parker Bowles.

Diana hinted at the alleged infidelity in the documentary "Diana: In Her Own Words," which featured her saying (via Mirror), "I remember saying to my husband, 'Why is this lady around?; He said, 'I refuse to be the Prince of Wales that never had a mistress.'"
