Demi Lovato's Mom Reveals Singer Is 90 Days Sober Following Overdose

Demi Lovato's mother, Dianna De La Garza, is sharing a health update on behalf of her famous daughter.

During her appearance on the Conversations with Maria Menounos podcast on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, the "Skyscraper" singer's mom revealed how Lovato is doing after suffering a drug overdose in late July 2018.

"She has 90 days [of sobriety], and I couldn't be more thankful or more proud of her, because addiction, being a disease, it is work," De La Garza told Menounos. "It's very hard, it's not easy, and there are no shortcuts."

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Lovato, who has a history of drug and alcohol abuse, was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles on the morning of July 24 after being found unresponsive in her home. Following an extended hospitalization to reportedly recover from multiple health problems stemming from an opioid overdose, the 26-year-old singer-songwriter entered rehab. Around that time, the former Disney star took to social media to break her silence on the matter, writing, "I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I've learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet." She added, "I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. ... I will keep fighting."

De La Garza, who has since spoken out about the epidemic of opioid addiction in America, continued to open up about Lovato's journey toward sobriety during her recent interview with Menounos. In reference to her daughter's heartbreaking ballad "Sober," in which she hinted at a relapse upon its release in June, De La Garza said, "I knew that she wasn't sober, but let me clarify: I didn't know what she was doing." As for what may have caused the "Heart Attack" hitmaker to relapse, she said, "I can't really say for sure," but noted that she doesn't "think it was a particular incident."

Just last month, Lovato's 16-year-old sister, Madison De La Garza, told Millennial Hollywood that her older sister is thankfully "doing really well" these days. The actress added, "She's working really hard on her sobriety and we're all so incredibly proud of her. ...It's been crazy for our family. It's been a lot."

Our thoughts remain with Lovato during her recovery.
