The Truth About The Weeknd's Dog, Caesar

The most adorable thing about Hollywood (besides the celebrity kids) is the furry friends. From Jennifer Anniston's adorable pup Lord Chesterfield to Megan Thee Stallion's life as a "hot dog mom" of four, it's clear that dogs are also a celebrity's best friend. Among the list of celebrity dog owners is The Weeknd. In November 2017, the "I Feel It Coming" crooner introduced fans to his four-legged friend, Caesar. "Handsome devil," The singer captioned a photo of the Doberman Pinscher puppy in a now-deleted Instagram post (via People). Since then, Caesar has made several celebrity appearances on The Weeknd's Instagram page.

While there are several reasons why we adopt dogs — whether it be for emotional support or just to have a loyal friend who occasionally leaves "presents" around the house — The Weeknd's reason for adopting is quite interesting. The Weeknd got his dog amid split from Selena Gomez

In October 2017, news broke that The Weeknd split from ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez after almost a year of dating. While Gomez dealt with the breakup by spending quality time with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, The Weeknd found comfort in a canine when he adopted Caesar. When Caesar made his debut on the "Blinding Lights" singer's Instagram page in November 2017, fans couldn't help but wonder what happened to the dog he and Gomez adopted together.

In September 2017, The Weeknd and the "Baila Conmigo" singer were spotted at a pet shop in New York City, per Life & Style Magazine. While only Gomez would be spotted with the puppy, Charlie, it seems the two both had custody over the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. After their split, the two reportedly fought over the custody of Charlie, an insider told Life & Style Magazine. "[The Weeknd] thinks Selena won't be able to take care of Charlie as well as he will because of her schedule," the source said. "She is in love with her puppy." Clearly, Gomez got her way (and her puppy). Fortunately for The Weeknd, at least he knows Caesar's not going anywhere! Check out a cute snap of Caesar on The Weeknd's Instagram page below:
