Barron Trump: 29 Facts About Donald Trump's Youngest Son

We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Most of the Trump children have become well-known to the public over the years, but Barron Trump remains a family outlier. The youngest son of President Donald Trump first captivated the eyes of the world late on election night in 2016 when he stood behind his father on the stage while victory was accepted. Barron, of course, looked more sleepy than jubilant on stage, which inadvertently won over the cold hearts of an America that was mostly happy the election cycle was finally over.

Since his father officially took office in 2017 — and begrudgingly left it following a single term at the start of 2021, only to return after another election victory in 2025 — Barron has remained largely out of sight, but we've managed to learn quite a bit about this prince of American politics. For starters, his pre-White House living situation at Trump Tower was unimaginably sweet. Oh, and his mother, Melania Trump, used to moisturize his face with caviar — but you probably could have guessed that. Ready to learn more about this young Simba-like figure? It's time we get familiar with Barron Trump.

Barron Trump was a surprise baby

Barron Trump's arrival came as a bit of a surprise to parents Melania and Donald. While the president had four other children from his two separate marriages, he said he wasn't expecting Melania to become pregnant with her first child so soon. The newlyweds found out they had a son on the way about five months after their lavish Mar-a-Lago wedding in 2005, and the former businesswoman admitted her husband was a bit shocked at the big news.

"He came home [one day last August], and I told him he'd be a daddy," Melania told People at the time. "And his reaction was ... at first he needed to take it in. It was a real surprise. And then he was very happy." Donald added, "I expected we were going to have children, so I wasn't totally surprised. But I was surprised by the speed of it. It happened very quickly."

Barron came into the world with plenty of skills of his own after his birth in March 2006, and many of them seemed to bear a striking resemblance to his father. By the time he was just 1 year old, Barron had already started walking and talking, giving his parents a run for their money. "He is very smart and very serious," Melania told People after Barron's 1st birthday. "He loves toys that you learn from. He loves books; he's telling me what he wants to read," she shared. "He's a very smart, very solid young guy," Donald added.

Melania Trump intended to keep Barron out of the spotlight

Since Barron Trump's official appearances were essentially limited to traditional first family events, like Inauguration Day festivities and the White House Easter Egg Roll, it seemed like Donald and Melania Trump intended to uphold the tradition of keeping kids of first families mostly out of the public eye. In an October 2016 interview with ABC News, Melania actually spelled it out. "I teach him, I explain to him so he knows what's going on," she said. "He's taking very well. I keep him balanced and — just have him a childhood as normal as possible. And he's enjoying his school and his sports. He's a great athlete. And I just want to have him — out of the spotlight for now."

That plan remained firmly in place throughout Donald's first term of his presidency. In December 2018, the Washington Examiner reported on how Barron "rarely appears in public with his parents." Speaking on Fox News' "Hannity" around the same time, Melania said that even though Barron's childhood, following the family's move to Washington, D.C., wasn't exactly normal, he was happy and enjoying his time there. She also said her efforts to offer Barron protection from public scrutiny were required to "give him the childhood he deserves."

Donald Trump didn't change his youngest son's diapers

In her 2012 interview with Parenting, Melania Trump said of her husband, "He didn't change diapers and I am completely fine with that. It is not important to me." She added, "It's all about what works for you. It's very important to know the person you're with. And we know our roles. I didn't want him to change the diapers or put Barron to bed. I love every minute of it."

But that's not to say that Donald wasn't a doting dad in his own way. Melania also said that he and Barron love to play golf and eat dinner together at Mar-a-Lago, the Trump clan's Florida getaway. While there, Melania said, "We enjoy family time." Golf actually comes up a lot when the first lady is asked about Donald's relationship with Barron, like in the couple's 2015 People interview, where she again said that the two men in her life enjoy going out for dinner, just the two of them, and hitting the green together.

Golf and dinner, huh? Some might say that sounds a bit more like the closing of a business deal than a loving father-son day. But as Donald told the outlet, "I've always prided myself on being a good father." Meanwhile, Melania stated of the father-son duo, "They have beautiful respect and admiration for each other."

He was on Oprah when he was just a baby

"Be sure to watch today's Oprah for Donald and Melania Trump's son Barron, who will be making his television debut!" People announced on May 16, 2006. On that day, when Barron was just 2 months old, Oprah Winfrey's BFF, Gayle King, visited Trump Tower on behalf of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" to introduce the then-newest Trump to the world. At the time, Oprah dubbed him, "The Baby Barron Trump."

For his part, Donald Trump seemed excited to be father once again, holding his youngest son, kissing him on the head repeatedly, and calling attention to Barron's "delicate hands." Melania informed King that Donald was wonderful with Barron, spending time each morning watching television and reading newspapers together. "5 weeks old and we read the papers together?" Donald joked.

So, why the name Barron? King had asked. "It's a name I always loved, but I never had the courage to use," Donald said. "And then I gave the idea to Melania." When asked if he would change diapers, "The Apprentice" star claimed, "I would be able to do it, yes." Though, as previously mentioned above, The Donald opted out of this particular parenting role.

Barron had a nanny, but Melania was a 'hands-on' parent

A few months after Barron Trump's birth in 2006, new mom Melania Trump told The Palm Beach Post that they did have a nanny on hand to help out when need be. "In one way, we still need to have a life," she explained. However, in a 2015 interview with People, Donald and Melania Trump insisted they didn't use a nanny to help raise Barron. "I like to be hands-on," Melania said. "I think it's very important. ... [Barron] needs somebody as a parent there, so I am with him all the time. As you know my husband is traveling all the time." But days after this interview was published, Donald — in true form — told the New York Post that there was, in fact, "a young woman, someone who works with Barron."

Still, reports continued to describe Melania's devotion to raising her young son — allegedly sans nannies. So, who knows what the heck was going on, even during the Trump family's time in the White House? In 2018, Melania's former advisor and pal, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, claimed in "Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady," "Melania has perpetuated the myth that she never hired a nanny when Barron was young and that she waited to start her businesses until he went to school ... There was always someone there — the cook, Melania's assistant, and a lot of the time, her mother — to watch him. Now, at the White House, Barron hangs out with the Secret Service agents."

Barron Trump had his own floor in his family's penthouse

At a mere 3 weeks old, Barron Trump had an entire floor of a penthouse to himself. You read that right. According to a 2006 report in the New York Post, Barron's floor in his parents' $100 million New York City triplex included its own kitchen, living room, nursery, and separate rooms for mom Melania Trump and Barron's nanny to stay. It also had enough room to hold the golden stroller with the built-in chandelier Ellen DeGeneres bought for him. "He's a very good baby," Melania said at the time. "He's not like a crybaby — he's calm and it's fantastic."

"In his space the décor style of the rest of our home is mixed with what he is into: planes and helicopters," Melania told Parenting magazine of then 6-year-old Barron's space in 2012. "We let him be creative; let his imagination fly and do whatever he wants." While Melania noted that "he likes clean and white," she added, "He also has his playroom and he has his pictures and art and all of his stuff. And since he has his own floor, he can also put those things on his living room and on his own walls."

Barron and Melania officially moved from the Big Apple into the White House five months after Donald Trump's inauguration. "Looking forward to the memories we'll make in our new home! #Movingday," Melania tweeted at the time. Following Donald's single presidential term, Barron and his parents relocated to their newly renovated digs at Mar-a-Lago.

Barron Trump is fluent in two languages

Although he reportedly takes after his father, Barron Trump has also inherited his mother's roots, as well. According to a 2016 interview with GQ magazine, Melania Trump revealed that Barron was fluent in her native Slovenian. In fact, he speaks the language with his grandparents, who lived near Trump Tower at the time of the interview.

Melania also once bragged to People in 2009 that at just 3 years old, Barron was also speaking French in addition to Slovenian and English. "He's very special, he talks nonstop," she told the outlet. But two years later, during an appearance on "The Joy Behar Show," Melania said, "Barron speaks two languages completely perfect. He goes from one thing to another, Slovenian/English." What happened to French? Was he just not fluent enough to mention it yet? Does Barron Trump own a beret? These are questions of national importance that need an answer.

Melania Trump calls Barron Trump 'mini Donald'

Given that he loves to wear suits and moisturize his skin with caviar, it should surprise exactly no one that Melania Trump often refers to her only son as "little Donald" and "mini-Donald." "He is a very strong-minded, very special, smart boy," Melania told Parenting in 2012. "He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants ... He is a mixture of us in looks, but his personality is why I call him little Donald."

In addition to explaining that a 5-year-old Barron aspired to be a golfer and businessman one day like his famous father, Melania later added in the interview, "He loves to build something and tear it down and build something else." She further explained, "He is very detailed at drawing. We travel often and he remembers everything he sees. Sometimes later the same day or the next he would build something like he saw or imagine something himself." In her 2013 interview with ABC News, Melania referred to Barron as "mini-Donald," which if we're being honest, has to sting a little for Barron's older half-brother, the actual Donald Jr.

A former butler also thinks Barron's a mini-version of his dad

It's no secret former first lady Melania Trump thinks Barron Trump takes after his dad, Donald Trump, as she has openly stated so on multiple occasions in the past, as previously mentioned. Interestingly enough, the Trump family's former butler, Tony Senecal, shares her take. Senecal explained that while he has a fondness for all of Donald's five kids, Barron is the most like his famous dad. Want some proof? Look no further than Senecal's anecdote about a conversation he apparently had with a then-2-year-old Barron.

"When Barron was 2 1/2 years old I took his breakfast into him," the ex-butler recalled to "Inside Edition." "He was sitting in his highchair and he looks at me and he said: 'Tony! Sit down! We need to talk!'" Holy moly! Although we can't say whether this account is true, we can't say it's too hard to imagine. And who knows, maybe Barron will be shouting his dad's famous "You're fired!" line around one day. Never say never.

Barron Trump uses only the finest products

As one might expect from someone born into a billion-dollar business family, Barron Trump has been dressing for success pretty much his entire life. He even wore a suit to the launch of half-sister Ivanka Trump's 2010 book, "The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life," when he was only 3 1/2 years old.

"He's not a sweatpants child," Melania Trump said while discussing her son with ABC News in 2013. "He doesn't mind putting on [a suit] — but not every day — and he likes to dress up in a tie sometimes like Daddy." But that's not to say that Barron doesn't like a little comfort. In fact, he was later known to sometimes pair his prep school uniform with customized New Balance sneakers that reportedly cost $149.

But if you needed further proof that Barron isn't your typical kid, try this one on for size: the then-7-year-old's mother also admitted to ABC News that, at the time, she applied her own line of caviar-infused moisturizer to his skin after he took his nightly bath. "It smells very, very fresh," Melania said of her Caviar Complex C6 skincare line. "I put it on him from head to toe. He likes it." Unfortunately for the two of them, this tradition may have been short-lived, as Melania's skincare line fell apart shortly after its high-profile launch.

Barron Trump has attended some prestigious schools

While Barron Trump's education started at the Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York, he began his matriculation at St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland in the fall of 2017. In addition to the school's prestigious reputation — 100% of its graduates go on to some type of higher education — St. Andrew's costs approximately $40,000 per year and has a range of impressive facilities. This includes a dance studio and theater, a darkroom, a massive library, and lots of space for Barron to focus on sports, including baseball, lacrosse, and soccer fields, basketball courts, and a fitness room. The school also prides itself on using the latest findings in psychology and neuroscience to evolve their educational style.

Barron was also the first child of a sitting president to attend St. Andrew's (most traditionally go to Sidwell Friends), though the school does claim other famous alumni, like eBay founder Pierre Omidyar. Meanwhile, following his move to Florida alongside Donald and Melania Trump in 2021, Barron was enrolled in Palm Beach's equally prestigious private school, Oxbridge Academy, where he graduated from in 2024.

Barron Trump was the first boy to live in the White House in decades

After making his move to Washington alongside mom Melania Trump in June 2017, Barron Trump officially become the first boy to grace the halls of the White House in almost 60 years. Yep, the last time America had a "first son" was all the way back in 1963 with John F. Kennedy's son, JFK Jr., who moved into the White House when he was just a baby. For his part, Barron made his entrance to the presidential residence in true Trump fashion, exiting Marine One and strolling across the White House lawn to his new digs while wearing a shirt emblazoned with the words "The Expert."

Though he didn't get his own wing of the executive residence, the luxurious lifestyle Barron grew up with in NYC (more on this below) didn't exactly get downgraded in his new living quarters in the nation's capital. The White House reportedly had a staff of 100 people geared up to keep all of the Trump family's go-to favorites well stocked, including everything from snacks to toiletries.

He didn't move into the White House right away

Unlike first children before him, Barron Trump's move into the White House took several months. At the time Donald Trump was inaugurated in January 2017, his youngest son was just 9 years old and finishing up the second half of his fifth-grade school year. According to the The New York Times, Melania wanted to avoid uprooting her son from his home and friends in the middle of his term, and the two decided to hang back for another six months while Donald made his move to Washington, D.C.

"No official statement has been released by the Trump family regarding transition timing, but like any parents, they are concerned about pulling their 10-year-old son out of school in the middle of the year," said Donald's then-spokesperson Jason Miller at the time. Melania was her son's main caregiver at the time and often took him to and from his private school in Manhattan during Donald's presidential transition.

The former model was hoping to keep her son's journey to the White House low-key at the time to avoid any harsh repercussions due to public scrutiny. As previously mentioned, Barron's privacy was of utmost importance for the Slovenian native. Melania and Barron eventually did make their grand entrance to the White House in June 2017, about five months after Donald. The president told People that while his son was hesitant to make the grand change, he obliged for the greater good. "When he hears I'm going to help people that solves the problem," he revealed.

Barron Trump has a creative spark

What might not be immediately obvious about Barron Trump is his creative streak, a trait former first lady Melania Trump revealed in a chat with Parenting magazine in 2012. Melania shared a sweet anecdote to illustrate her claim, recalling an especially impressive moment of free play when Barron was young. "His imagination is growing and important," Melania said at the time. "He draws on the walls in his playroom, we can paint it over. One day he was playing bakery and he wrote 'Barron's Bakery' on the wall with crayons. He is very creative, if you say to a child no, no, no, where does the creativity go?" How cute — it's clear Barron was a very imaginative tyke.

Of course, it's fair to reason Barron's free reign over his playroom had something to do with his artistic flair. Not many kids are allowed to draw on their playroom walls, after all.

Barron Trump is really into sports

In 2017, then-11-year-old Barron Trump joined D.C. United's under-12 team as a midfielder. Apparently, his love of soccer has only grown. According to a video posted on Sports Bible, Barron's play on the pitch has earned him the admiration of soccer fans. "United States national team should call him up," one user stated. Barron also impressed professionals with his knowledge of the game.

"He was very knowledgeable about soccer, knew about D.C. United and was interested to know more," former D.C. United striker Patrick Mullins, whose team had paid a visit to the White House, said. "Little kid to have a passion for the game and to be knowledgeable and have a conversation with us, it makes me feel good about kids growing up playing the game."

In 2018, proud mom Melania Trump revealed (via SCMP) that her athletic son is "all into sports." However, one sport Barron most likely won't be playing is American football — at least if his father has anything to do with it. "I just don't like the reports that I see coming out having to do with football," Donald Trump told CBS News' Margaret Brennan before the Super Bowl in 2019, calling it a "really tough" and "dangerous sport." He added, "I thought the equipment would get better, and it has. The helmets have gotten far better but it hasn't solved the problem ... I've heard NFL players saying they wouldn't let their sons play football. So it's not totally unique, but I — I would have a hard time with it."

Donald Trump's youngest son had a major growth spurt

Donald Trump is 6'3", so when you see him standing next to Barron Trump, you might be thinking to yourself, "Wow, this kid is tall." And you'd be right. "Barron is 6-foot-7, can you believe it? And he's 15," Donald said at a 2021 political event held in North Carolina (via the New York Post), before quipping of the family's now second-tallest member: "Eric is short — he's only 6-foot-6." Forget soccer, someone might want to put a basketball in Barron's hand at some point.

Somewhat ironically known as "Little Donald" among family and friends, Barron unfortunately had some jokes made at his expense appear online due to his extensive growth spurt. "Barron Trump looks like two kids in a trench coat," one X user wrote (via The Sun). Another added, "Barron Trump is literally SpongeBob when he goes to the dance lol." Even reporters noticed Barron's seemingly overnight growth spurt. "The President, first lady, and Barron Trump are headed to Palm Beach," a CNN White House correspondent tweeted in January 2020. "(Also: did Barron grow half a foot since Thanksgiving?!)"

Barron Trump became a 'very young uncle'

Described in the media as protective and loving toward his nieces and nephews, Barron first became an uncle at the ripe age of 1. "A very young uncle," Donald Trump later noted of his then-toddler son in a 2009 appearance on "Live with Regis and Kelly" (via People). "He's a sweetheart, he's great."

Donald now has a total of 11 grandchildren, all of whom have Uncle Barron to play with. These include Donald Trump Jr.'s five children with his ex-wife, Vanessa Haydon, and Eric Trump's two kids with wife Lara Trump. In May 2025, Tiffany Trump and husband Michael Boulos welcomed one son together. Barron's also uncle to three baby Kushners; children his older sister, Ivanka Trump, shares with fellow former Trump advisor Jared Kushner, who appears to be Donald's favorite son-in-law.

All the kids, especially Ivanka's, seem to love their uncle. "Now with Barron here they have so much fun together and they are so young. They're really just kids. So they are just enjoying it," Ivanka stated in a 2017 "Fox & Friends" interview (via Hello!). "They spend a lot of time in the Oval [Office] with their grandfather, which is a lot of fun for them." Around this time, Ivanka shared a sweet clip on X, where a smiling Barron could be spotted in the background playing peek-a-boo and high-fiving her youngest son, Theodore Kushner. "My youngest brother proves he's a baby whisperer — while my father signs his first executive orders," she wrote.

He took his classmates to the White House

Some fifth graders go to the zoo for a field trip, while others may take a trip to the aquarium, but the classmates of Barron Trump had a far more luxurious experience. Given the fact that Barron is the son of President Donald and first lady Melania Trump, could you expect anything less? According to Page Six, Donald's youngest son brought a group of 80 kids from his fifth-grade class at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School to the White House for a souped-up tour, which even included a meet-and-greet with the president.

The selected classmates got dressed up for the special occasion and touted around by flanking Secret Service agents, with a source telling the publication that Barron was on his best behavior for the first-class field trip. "They had a buffet lunch and a tour of the White House and met the president and the first lady," the insider revealed. "President Trump gave them all a rousing speech about living up to your potential and being the best you could be for your country. Barron was really sweet. He was so excited to show his classmates around the White House."

The tour didn't end at the Oval Office, either. The field trip included a tour of the city as well, and Barron and his classmates stayed the night in Washington, D.C. before heading back to New York City the following morning. How's that for a core childhood memory?

Barron Trump was thought to be the reason behind Donald and Melania Trump's push for an e-cigarette ban

In September 2019, then-President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration would soon issue what he called (via CNN) "some very strong recommendations" related to flavored e-cigarette use. This ban followed multiple deaths due to lung diseases thought to be related to vaping, as well as another reported 450 lung illnesses seemingly related to the product.

Earlier that week, Melania Trump tweeted, "I am deeply concerned about the growing epidemic of e-cigarette use in our children." She concluded, "We need to do all we can to protect the public from tobacco-related disease and death, and prevent e-cigarettes from becoming an on-ramp to nicotine addiction for a generation of youth." During a follow-up press conference discussing the dangers of vaping with Melania sitting quietly by his side, Donald explained (via a tweet from Vox reporter Aaron Rupar) that this issue first came to his attention because of the first lady's involvement. Then, without mentioning Barron Trump by name, Donald referred to his and Melania's 13-year-old son in a peculiar way: "She's got a son, together, that is a beautiful young man, and she feels very, very strongly about it."

This led many X users to speculate that Melania caught Barron vaping, like #KillStream founder Ethan Ralph, who claimed, "Barron got caught with a Juul and now we can't have Mint pods anymore." There has since been neither confirmation nor denial of Barron's alleged vape use. However, Donald later stated of the couple's parenting on the issue (via USA Today), "We haven't told him anything but 'don't vape, don't vape.'"

Barron Trump tested positive for COVID-19

After the World Health Organization declared a global pandemic back in March 2020, President Donald Trump frequently downplayed the damaging effects of the coronavirus on health of Americans, going so far as to call it "kung flu." Later in October, the president, wife Melania, and son Barron Trump — then 14 years old — all got infected by COVID-19. In a since-deleted post on the White House website (via NPR), Melania wrote that she worried about the effects of the virus on her son, even after his initial test was negative. "I couldn't help but think 'what about tomorrow or the next day?'" wrote the first lady. "My fear came true when he was tested again and it came up positive. Luckily he is a strong teenager and exhibited no symptoms. In one way I was glad the three of us went through this at the same time so we could take care of one another and spend time together. He has since tested negative."

While the president required far more intense treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Melania and Barron remained quarantined in the White House, where they took vitamins and stuck to a healthy diet to recover. The president later praised his son for bouncing back from the experience. "I don't even think he knew he had it, because they're young and their immune systems are strong and they fight it off, 99.9%," said Trump, per CNN. "And Barron is beautiful and he's free."

Barron Trump has a thing for sneakers

It stands to reason that the chatter over a celebrity will eventually veer into fashion territory, and the scuttlebutt over Barron Trump has been a unique case study. Folks who make a fuss over such things have focused on what's on the president's son's feet, particularly the sneakers he apparently digs. In 2020, it was reported that Barron especially liked New Balance products. Barron not only owns a pair of New Balance sneakers with properties sporting features that glow in the dark, but has variations of the brand's 574 Core line in black, camel suede, navy suede, and gray.

Barron's also worn other brands, including one controversial line in 2018 when Donald Trump berated Nike for hiring in one campaign former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, whose kneeling during the national anthem outraged hardcore patriots. During one of his Nike attacks, a shot revealed his son wearing sneakers created by the footwear company. And when Barron was 11, Daily Caller scribe Ford Springer took the lad to task for wearing a t-shirt, khaki shorts and a pair of shorts in front of media cameras while his parents were dressed more formally. Snorted Springer, "The youngest Trump doesn't have any responsibilities as the president's son, but the least he could do is dress the part when he steps out in public."

Barron has a collection of lavish gifts from celebrities

Barron Trump's birth in 2006 was followed by a lot of fanfare. There's no question that his father, Donald Trump, has quite a large list of A-list celebrity connections, and many of those people were more than happy to send their best wishes to the then-newborn in the form of lavish presents. After all, what more can you expect from a child who made his first television debut on the "Oprah Winfrey Show" at just 2 months old?

Included in his array of over-the-top gifts was a white mink coverlet from esteemed fashion designer Dennis Basso, as well as a giant stuffed animal dog from journalist Barbara Walters. We've mentioned the golden stroller previously gifted by Ellen DeGeneres (which she most certainly later regretted given Trump's staunch stance against gay marriage), but Barron has also been lucky enough to continue to reap the benefits of his father's connections even after growing up.

In 2018, President Vladimir Putin handed Donald a soccer ball as a gift during the announcement that the United States would host the World Cup in 2026. The former president had his avid soccer-loving son in mind, however, and he quickly tossed the ball to Melania to give to Barron. "It will go to my son Barron, we have no question," he said during the announcement.

Barron Trump has been the victim of cyberbullying

Being a part of America's first families isn't all it's chalked up to be. Sure, personal chefs and a white palace seem like an ideal childhood for many, but being the son of a president also comes with a fair share of downfalls. Barron Trump has endured a few pitfalls of his own while his father has been the president, including being the victim of cyberbullying attacks when he was just a middle schooler.

In 2017, Barron made headlines when "Saturday Night Live" show writer Katie Rich posted the now-deleted tweet (via BBC), "Barron will be this country's first home-school shooter." Rich suffered blowback over the ordeal and was suspended from her job. Despite the harsh words, Barron isn't the only one who had to face the harsh reality of growing up in the public eye. Former White House child Chelsea Clinton took the controversial comments personally and even defended Barron over what many considered to be a cyberbullying attack. "Barron Trump deserves the chance every child does — to be a kid. Standing up for every kid also means opposing POTUS policies that hurt kids," she wrote on Facebook at the time.

Rich deactivated her account after posting the dicey message and reactivated it days later to share an apology. "I sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet," she wrote on X following the controversy. "I deeply regret my actions & offensive words. It was inexcusable & I'm so sorry."

Barron Trump was absent from his father's farewell speech

Barron Trump was nowhere to be found during a monumental moment at the end of his father's presidency in 2021. As Donald Trump said his final farewell to the American people on the tarmac while awaiting to board Air Force One out of Washington, D.C., his children and Melania stood by his side. Barron, however, was missing from the occasion. Donald's youngest son also wasn't spotted leaving the White House for Joint Base Andrews to watch his father wave goodbye to the presidency.

The rest of Barron's older siblings, as well as Donald's grandchildren, watched in the front row to commemorate the goodbye speech, as well as Jared Kushner and Eric's wife Lara. The former president's youngest daughter Tiffany even brought along her then-fiancé, Michael Boulos, to show her support.

While it's unclear why exactly Barron missed the momentous farewell, his absence was heavily noted in the media. While he did take the same Air Force One plane alongside his parents en route to Florida, he decided to skip out on his father's last presidential remarks. He didn't miss much however, as Donald told the crowd (via People), "Have a good life, we will see you soon."

He lives a guarded life as a high-profile student at NYU

Barron Trump joined NYU's Stern School of Business in September 2024. Although it was suspected that the first son was rejected by the prestigious Harvard University, he is said to be quite popular at NYU despite trying to maintain a low profile. According to Barron's mom, Melania Trump, his life on campus is far from ordinary. As such, he has to stay guarded at all times. "He doesn't have a normal college experience, and you need to be very vigilant [about] who you trust and who you're connecting with." Melania said in an interview with Fox News. "He knows that. He grew up very fast. His childhood from 10 years old was very different."

Not that the Trump heir doesn't make any attempt at taking part in things he is interested in. His love for sports, for instance, extends all the way to college; when he is not showing his impressive soccer skills on the field, he is getting acquainted with the gaming community. Barron was reportedly asking for Discord usernames and gamertags of other students in a bid to connect online.

When it comes to dating, Barron was first said to be a "geeky woman-repellant" in his first year at NYU (via Radar Online). Naturally, some of his classmates desperately tried to get his attention, but romance rumors only surfaced toward the end of his freshman year. At the time of writing, Barron is supposedly going out with a mysterious girlfriend with whom he spends a good chunk of time.

Barron Trump has an interest in cryptocurrency

President Donald Trump was once a heavy critic of the cryptocurrency industry. In July 2019, Donald, who was serving his first term, expressed doubt on the real-life value of the payment form. Years later, as he was gearing up for another term in office, Donald appeared to have changed tune and made several pledges to the crypto space.

The president was most likely influenced to join the crypto bandwagon by his son, Barron Trump, who dipped his toes in the arena long before he did. "Barron's a young guy, but he knows it — he talks about his wallet," Donald said in a September 2024 interview (via Forbes), as he announced the creation of the Trump family crypto venture, World Liberty Financial. "He's got four wallets or something, and I'm saying, 'What is a wallet?'"

While Donald and his family were stingy with details about World Liberty Financial, they have since reached major financial milestones. In January 2025, it was reported that Donald made an astounding $57 million from the company, and months later, it emerged that he wasn't the only member of the family earning big bucks. His son, Barron, made a gross income of $40 million from their dealings. Barron, who was named the company's web3 ambassador alongside some of his siblings, reportedly earned a cool $25 million after taxes.

He was credited with helping Donald Trump gain popularity among young voters

President Donald Trump made a historic comeback in 2024, when he defeated former Vice President Kamala Harris to secure 49.8% of the general population's vote in the presidential election. Voting patterns in the heated election saw an increased support of the MAGA movement among black voters, Hispanic voters, and overall, men under the age of 50. Additionally, Donald was introduced to a new demographic: young voters.

According to Donald, his son, Barron Trump, played an integral part in helping him woo the younger voter base. "I have a very tall son named Barron. Has anyone heard of him?" Donald gushed at his January 2025 inauguration (via ABC News), saying Barron encouraged him to appear on many shows and podcasts that would appeal to younger people. "He knew the youth vote ... He was saying, 'Dad, you got to go out and do this or that one.' And we did a lot of them." Melania Trump later revealed that Barron not only offered sound advice, but he also singled out whom Donald needed to contact in order to gain traction.

Barron Trump quickly incorporated, then shut down, a real estate company

The Trump family's real estate empire is one-of-a-kind and spans across residential buildings like the 58-story Trump Tower, luxury hotels and resorts, and golf courses. The foundation of the Trumps' success dates all the way back to 1908, when Donald Trump's grandfather, Frederick Trump Sr., purchased his first piece of property, a building located north of Jamaica Avenue in New York City.

Taking the family history into account, it wasn't surprising when Barron Trump decided to try out the family business. In July 2024, Barron combined forces with his friend from high school, Cameron Roxburgh, and real estate expert, Carter Fulcher, to incorporate Trump, Fulcher & Roxburgh Capital Inc. The luxury real estate firm was set to operate from an office in Palm Beach, Florida, but the trio shut it down shortly after Donald won the 2024 election.

According to Barron's business partner, Roxburgh, the company was dissolved temporarily to keep its operations away from the prying eyes of the media during Donald's reelection bid. The trio was reportedly eyeing investments in Utah, Arizona, and Idaho, and was supposed to make a comeback in the spring of 2025. Roxburgh later told Fox Business that there wouldn't be a return after all. "As of now, the company will not be relaunched," he said.

Barron Trump was adored by his late grandmother

Melania Trump lost her mother, Amalija Knavs, in January 2024. The mom of one took to X to announce the unfortunate loss, writing in part, "Amalija Knavs was a strong woman who always carried herself with grace, warmth, and dignity. She was entirely devoted to her husband, daughters, grandson, and son-in-law." Knavs' funeral was held in Palm Beach, Florida, in a somber event that was attended by her close family and Trump political allies.

Barron and Donald Trump were pictured sharing a heartfelt moment while grieving at the funeral, and in light of Knavs' death, the close relationship she had with her grandson came to light. A source close to the family told People that the duo often spent a lot of time together. "There have been times when Barron has been with his grandparents more than with Melania, and a lot more than with Donald," the insider said.

The informant's account could be so close to the truth since Melania revealed that Knavs moved from her home country, Slovenia, to be closer to Barron. "He [Barron] was her focus," Melania told "Fox & Friends." "It's almost like she was a second mother, especially because of my schedule in the White House and being so busy."
