This Could Be The True Reason Piers Doesn't Like Meghan

Piers Morgan is a notorious critic of Meghan Markle — but it wasn't always that way. In fact, after Meghan and Prince Harry made their relationship public, he seemingly had nothing but nice things to say about the American actor. "My take on her was she's very beautiful, she's very intelligent," he said on Good Morning Britain at the time, reflecting on his one in-person sit down with her (via the Daily Record)."I was really impressed. I thought she was a very nice woman, very suited to Harry and different, biracial, an actress."

However, as Meghan's relationship with Harry intensified, so did Morgan's dislike for her. He began making largely critical remarks about the couple throughout their engagement. As the drama between Meghan and her father unfolded right before her May 2018 nuptials, Morgan seemingly became highly disenchanted with Meghan and sided with her father. He penned a piece for the Daily Mail in 2018, writing that Meghan is "a ruthless social climbing actress who has landed the role of her life and is determined to milk it for all she can." He then once again detailed his personal experience with her, which could point to the true reason Morgan doesn't like Meghan

Piers Morgan said he was 'ghosted' by Meghan Markle

In his 2018 op-ed for the Daily Mail, Piers Morgan detailed a 90-minute encounter he had with Meghan Markle while she was visiting London in June 2016. "She spoke very candidly about her family ... Donald Trump (she's not a fan), and of course, Suits," he said. "She asked me for advice on her career and the media, and if she could come on Good Morning Britain next time she was over, which I said I would arrange," he continued.

He added that she sent him many sweet messages after their meetup, including that she "was looking forward" to seeing him again. He also explained that their relationship began in 2015 when they followed each other on Twitter. According to Morgan, Meghan messaged him that she was a "big fan," and they started speaking regularly after that.

Meghan, however, ended up meeting Prince Harry on a blind date the same night she met Morgan, and the rest is history. "I never heard from her again. Not a word. I'd been ghosted," Morgan wrote. He then accused her of only using him to advance her career. "But when someone more important and influential came along, in the shape of Prince Harry, I was instantly dumped like a sack of spuds," he wrote.

While Meghan's entrance into the royal family made many people unhappy, it seems that Morgan may have a deeper, more personal issue with the duchess.

Piers Morgan has been called out for his disdain for Meghan Markle

People who have gotten a whiff of Piers Morgan's explicit criticisms of Meghan Markle have continuously questioned why he is so concerned with her. "Why does @piersmorgan care so much about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle? Doesn't affect his life," one person tweeted in 2020. "I wish he would stop talking about Meghan & Harry so negatively all the time and just focus on reporting about something else going on in the UK," another person wrote in 2021.

Furthermore, many have accused Morgan of simply being mad he was rejected by Meghan — including his own former coworker. Morgan resigned from his hosting job at Good Morning Britain on March 9, 2021, after he was under pressure to apologize for discrediting Meghan's statements during her tell-all interview with Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey that aired on March 7, 2021.

Before Morgan's formal resignation, his co-anchor Alex Beresford was quite blunt with him on air and echoed what many have said for a long time. "I understand that you don't like Meghan Markle. You've made it so clear a number of times on this program, a number of times, and I understand that you've got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle, or you had one, and she cut you off," Beresford said (via The Hill). "She's entitled to cut you off if she wants to." Morgan subsequently stormed off the set, which was seemingly a fairly telling move.

Meghan Markle is concerned by Piers Morgan's words

While Meghan Markle has never publicly spoken out against Piers Morgan himself, she and Prince Harry have made it quite clear that they don't appreciate the intrusive treatment by the British media, which would include Morgan. In fact, they issued a severe statement that condemned the "wave of abuse and harassment" Meghan endured just as Prince Harry's girlfriend in 2016 and have continued to fight for their privacy ever since.

Following Morgan's harsh words regarding her and Prince Harry's tell-all special, however, Meghan reportedly "went directly to ITV's CEO Dame Carolyn McCall," per the Daily Mail. The outlet noted that Meghan is not mad about Morgan once again criticizing her, but is concerned that his comments "could affect people attempting to deal with their own mental health problems." The worry stems from Meghan's revelation in the special that she had suicidal thoughts as a working member of the British royal family and Morgan saying he would not "believe her if she read me a weather report" (via Metro U.K.)

Although the complaint to ITV was not public, it's the largest known protest Meghan has made against Morgan. Well, besides when she allegedly "ghosted" him.
