What Jennifer Coolidge Really Thinks About Replacing Kim Cattrall In The SATC Revival

The moment Sarah Jessica Parker took to Instagram to share the first sneak peak and announcement of the Sex and the City revival, fans of the hit HBO series were excited to find out what Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha have been up to. The most loyal SATC followers began postulating about how each of the ladies would be handling the coronavirus pandemic, who would have voted for President Donald Trump in the 2016 election and surely they couldn't help but wonder if Carrie Bradshaw is still Mrs. Preston.

Amid the exciting news, there was only one problem: actress Kim Cattrall would not be returning as Samantha Jones in the HBO Max revival. The most sex-positive character would be in her 60s in the series after turning 50 in the first Sex and the City movie in 2008. With Cattrall unwilling to revamp her famous character, rumors circulated that another actress could possibly fill her shoes. One name floating around? Jennifer Coolidge.

Jennifer Coolidge made an appearance in 'Sex and the City'

Although rumors have buzzed for years that the real reason Kim Cattrall doesn't want to return to the Sex and the City cast is because of an ongoing feud with Sarah Jessica Parker, the actresses have settled that beef publicly (kinda) and addressed Cattrall's refusal to join the revival. But could Jennifer Coolidge take her place? The actress has had her share of ultra fabulous and sexy roles in Legally Blonde and A Cinderella Story. So, how does the actress feel about taking Cattrall's place?

"I was a huge — and still am a huge – Sex and the City fan," Coolidge said during an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live in January 2021. "It's one of those shows you can just watch the reruns and never get tired of them." Per E! News, Coolidge probably doesn't get tired of watching the iconic series, especially considering the fact that she was featured in an episode as a character named Victoria.

"But I have to say, I am such a Kim Cattrall fan, and I don't see anyone being able to replace her in that part," the actress admitted to Cohen. "It was just the perfect ... I don't think you can replace her." It seems the role of Samantha is off limits, but only time will tell if Coolidge will pop up in the SATC revival And Just Like That in some capacity.
