Amy Mackelden is a writer, scripter, and celebrity interviewer at Nicki Swift. She was the weekend editor at Harper's Bazaar US for four years, an entertainment writer at Bustle for two years, and her bylines include Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Elle, The Independent, The Guardian, New Statesman, The Rumpus, Shondaland, Healthline, Byrdie, and Hello Giggles. As a disabled person, Amy regularly writes about her experience living with multiple sclerosis and anxiety. In 2020 she co-edited The Emma Press Anthology of Illness with Dr. Dylan Jaggard, with whom she delivered a paper at the world's first Kardashian conference in 2015. She co-founded Butcher's Dog poetry magazine and pop culture site Clarissa Explains F*** All, and had an essay published in Routledge's HBO’s Original Voices: Race, Gender, Sexuality and Power. Amy's writing has been awarded a Northern Promise Award from New Writing North, a New Buds Award from New Writing South, and seven development grants from Arts Council England. Prior to her MS diagnosis, Amy toured two full-length spoken word theater shows in the North East of England, one of which was a co-commission of Durham Book Festival. When she's not writing about being sick AF, Amy can be found watching reality TV, researching cults, and dreaming about John Kramer.
